Punjab University, the oldest seat of learning, has emerged as one of the leading public universities with maximum number of faculties and disciplines in the country and lowest annual fee for postgraduate and undergraduate courses.
PU Vice Chancellor Lieutenant General Arshad Mahmood (Retd) said this in an interview with APP here on Thursday. He said during the last seven years, 21 new teaching departments, 31 new programmes at master's level, and 15 disciplines at bachelor's level were introduced.
During this period, the PU re-structured faculties of 13 departments raised six new constituent colleges, inducted over 300 teachers on merit and 151 colleges were affiliated. The number of students increased by 14,000 and off campus students increased by 150,000, it was learnt.
