Governor Punjab has announced the grant of Rs 155 million for the construction of two residential hostels and for the strengthening of WTO Cell at University of Agriculture Faisalabad. While two more hostels would be constructed with Rs 200 million out of Rs 473 million grant.
Addressing the prize distribution ceremony regarding 3-day International Symposium for Agriculture organised by the faculty of Agriculture in Farmer's Syndicate Hall here on Tuesday, Vice Chancellor UAF Professor Dr Bashir Ahmad said that the rest of 273 million rupees would be spent on labs, lecture rooms and the purchase of equipment.
Dr Bashir Ahmad said that Higher Education Commission (HEC) has allocated an amount of Rs 150 million for the enhancement of Ph.D programme. He maintained that the faculty of veterinary science would be constructed at Pars with the grant of Rs 200 million announced by President General Pervez Musharraf on the eve of inaugural ceremony of UAF centennial celebrations in March 2006.
He said that Institute of Food Science and Technology would be upgraded with the amount of Rs 95 million, while Rs 38 million would be spent for the construction of UAF Sub Campus Toba Tek Singh. Professor Dr Muhammad Ashfaq Dean faculty of Agriculture during his inaugural address said that International Symposium would be remembered due to its significance in the context of interactive approach among the scientists from all around the globe. He said that 110 papers were received for this symposium and 23 selected papers were presented in various sessions.
Dr Ashfaq maintained that the abstract and the proceedings of this symposium has been compiled and would be published very soon. Professor Dr Bashir Ahmad gave away shields, mementos and certificates to the convenors and the members of various committees.
