NWFP Senior Minister Siraj-ul-Haq has called upon the youth to take guidance from the Holy Quran in their routine life as he said Quran provided panacea for all problems and challenges faced by the people today.
He was addressing as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of a 3-day Quranic calligraphy and manuscripts exhibition at Imam Khumeni Hall of Iranian Cultural Centre Peshawar Cantt.
Besides the calligraphy, master-pieces of Quranic verses in old Kuki and Egyptian scripts of students of Iranian Cultural Centre, samples of Quran written by Hazrat Ali (RA) and brought from British Library London had also been placed in the exhibition. The inaugural ceremony was also addressed by Iranian Council General Muhammad Iqbal Ali Asghari, Advisor to Chief Minister on S&T Allama Ramzan Tauqir, Qari Shahid Al-Azhari and teachers of the students' calligraphers who besides highlighting importance of the exhibition also lauded love of the Senior Minister for the holy Quran.
Siraj said study of Quran and implementing its teachings could guarantee the real peace and satisfaction in the world but unfortunately certain Muslims especially the rulers sought their success in adopting the western culture and blindly followed west that caused weakness of the entire Ummah.
Siraj while strongly condemning the attitude of British Prime Minister on declaring Hijab (veil) of women as illegal and strictly banishing it, said that narrow-mindedness of the west had reached to such a climax that it could not bear even a minor Muslim tradition though he said Muslims were enlightened and broadminded enough that they kept protection of life, honour and properties much dearer than their own selves and even ensured respect of each and every traditions of their religion.
He claimed the entire Muslim history was testimony of it and it was also acknowledged by the western scholars. He said such enlightenment of Muslim society was in fact the fruit of Quranic teachings. He asserted the west was fast moving towards the stone age due to its narrow-mindedness and soon the Muslims would have the leadership of the world due to their high moral values.
The senior minister lauded the role of Iranian Cultural Centre for arranging exhibition of Quranic calligraphy in the holy month of Ramazan and expressed the confidence that such efforts would be continued for good. He announced that provincial government would establish a separate wing of Quranic calligraphy under the culture department to promote Quranic knowledge and arts as more as possible. Later, he gave away shields to the student calligraphers whose masterpieces had been displayed in the exhibition.
