The joint Opposition on Saturday filed two separate adjournment motions in the Senate as well as in the National Assembly, seeking an in-House debate on the recent bomb blast in Peshawar, which killed seven persons.
The motion said it was widely reported in the media that as many as seven persons were killed and 40 others injured when a powerful bomb went off in the busiest area of Peshawar city on October 20.
"It is said the bomb was planted under a cart selling second hand socks and left in front of famous cinema near Jinnah Park/FC Headquarters on main GT Road, Peshawar," the motion noted. Senators Raza Rabbani, Asfandyar Wali, Professor Khurshid Ahmed, Babar Awan, M. Enver Baig, Safdar Abbasi, Sadia Abbasi, and Ilyas Bilour signed the motion filed with the Senate Secretariat.
These Senators said the matter is very serious and of national interest causing grave concern amongst the people, which needs discussion on the floor of the Senate, suspending routine business. The one submitted to the National Assembly Secretariat has the same text, but has been filed under Rule 74 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly unlike the motion moved under Rule 92 in the Senate.
