Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that an Overseas Pakistanis Investment Conference (OPIC) will be held in Islamabad in February 2007, to encourage and facilitate effective participation of the Overseas Pakistanis who are keen to participate in the country's economic development.
The Prime Minister said this while chairing a meeting at the PM's House on Wednesday which was attended by Federal Minister for Labour, Manpower & Overseas Pakistanis Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis Muhammad Raza Hayat Hiraj, foreign secretary, secretary overseas Pakistanis, secretary information, secretary BOI and managing director OPF, a press release said.
The Prime Minister said that the conference is being held in view of an extremely favourable investment climate in the country and the keen interest shown by the overseas Pakistanis in different parts of the world including the UK, Europe and the Middle East and Far East regions to invest in Pakistan.
The Conference will also provide a platform to overseas Pakistanis to interact with the private sector and policy makers in the country, besides being instrumental in attracting direct foreign investment in Pakistan, the Prime Minister said.
