Tanzania's coffee prices mostly firmed at this week's auction, boosted by increased demand for various bean grades as the quantity on offer fell, traders said on Friday.
The Tanzania Coffee Board (TCB) said 23,029 60-kg bags were offered, with 21,571 sold. At last week's sale, 45,737 bags were offered, with 43,704 sold. Benchmark grade AA fetched $112.00-$179.00 per 50-kg bag, compared with $108.80-$159.00 per bag at the last auction.
"Yesterday's prices were very good for both the arabicas and the robustness," said a trader at Kedgeree Co-operative Union. Grade A fetched $111.00-$132.00 per 50-kg bag compared with $107.00-$137.00 at the previous auction. The weekly auction was held on Thursday but TCB issued the results on Friday.
