The academicians, scholars, intellectuals from Pakistan and Malaysia who participated in an international conference on "Malaysia-Pakistan Relations" recommends that Pakistan and Malaysia take the necessary steps to encourage academic co-operation, social relations and people to people contact through seminars and conferences between the academic institutions of the two countries.
The conference stressed upon the both countries to promote and where possible, institutionalise exchange of scholars and academics for sabbatical or collaborative research. It also recommended the establishing chairs in Malaysian Studies in the University of Sindh and other universities.
The participants of the international moot urging the both countries further recommended providing research studies and other scholarly inputs to decision makers in government and industry in both countries on foreign policy, defence and security issues and issues pertaining to enhancement of bilateral trade and economic development.
The scholars also stressed to work jointly for the consolidation of the OIC and unity of the Ummah and also to take a leaf from each other's skills and experiences in crisis management, resolution of disputes and the handling of internal and external security issues. The Pakistan and Malaysia scholars also recommended to both countries to forge collaboration in the global war on terror.
It also underlines foster cultural exchange, particularly through exchange of student's delegations. The international moot scholars also recommended adhering to international conventions on the protection of the environment in particular the ecosystems of coastal communities, wetlands and delta regions.
The scholars were of the view to co-ordinate with partner institutions (in this case University of Malaysia) for the convening of a follow-up international conference on mutually agreed issue that helps strengthen Pakistan-Malaysia relations.
