Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and the Citigroup Foundation have launched a Microentrepreneurship Awards-2006 programme to recognise and honour leadership, entrepreneurial skills and best practices of individual microentrepreneurs in the country.
The goal of the awards programme is to encourage and support best practices among both microentrepreneurs and microfinance institutions throughout Pakistan and to draw public and government attention to the important role that microfinance plays in promoting economic development at the local level.
A distinguished National Advisory Council was formed to oversee the programme and interview finalists in the final judging round a day prior to the ceremony. The awards will be presented in the following separate male and female categories.
