The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) has decided to launch a project of beef breed to overcome meat shortage in the city. The CDGL would set up five centres of artificial breeding in the areas of Lakhoki, Marakah, Dyal, Ladheke Uchay and Karol Ghaati.
The injections where imported from Australia, Holland and United States would be provided to the farmers on subsidised rates so as they could buy the medicines at half price.
Chairing a meeting here on Friday, District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood said the project would help provide quality meat to the people. The meeting was informed that trained staff would be posted at these centres.
Amer said that as a result of increase in food requirement due to rising population, the livestock and poultry sectors had recorded significant improvement and there was need to utilise modern technology and latest scientific research through the foreign experts.
He said the city government would welcome the foreign investors in the field of livestock and poultry and would provide all out co-operation in this regard.
