Intelligence agencies are investigating the case of a 'phony minister' of the State Engineering Corporation (SEC), a subsidiary of Industries Ministry, who used a flag car during a visit to North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) some two weeks ago, official sources told Business Recorder here on Tuesday.
Shahid Iqbal, an officer of Grade 18 was traced by the intelligence agencies in Peshawar when they saw a flag car travelling on the road without any police escort and an unknown person sitting on its back seat, sources said.
They said that intelligence agency personnel chased the car till it reached Islamabad and it became clear that the person sitting on the back seat was a government officer.
Asked if the incumbent SEC Chairman took any notice of this grave violation, sources said that no action has been taken against the culprit by the department so far, but agencies are investigating the unprecedented incident. Sources added that this issue has not been brought to the notice of the Minister for Industries and Production, Jahangir Khan Tareen, by the department.
