Employees Old Age Benefit Institution (EOBI) has approved formation of 'Dispute Resolution Committees' to resolve all outstanding disputes of leather garments exporters.
The approval of committees' formation was given by the chairman EOBI, Brigadier Akhtar Zamin (Retd) during the meeting with the office-bearers of Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PLGMEA), said a press release received here on Thursday.
The committees will be separately set up for northern and southern zones members, which will consist of PLGMEA and EOBI representatives and will jointly work to resolve all outstanding dispute of leather garment exporters.
A delegation of PLGMEA led by Rizwan Rashid, Chairman Southern Zone met Zamin on Tuesday to discuss EOBI related problems of PLGMEA members. The delegation included advisor PLGMEA Fawad Ijaz Khan, Zia Hameed, Mohammad Danish Khan and Waseem Reyaz while EOBI officials were Muhammad Hanif, Javed Iqbal, Iftikhar and Munir Anwar.
Rizwan Rashid informed the Chairman EOBI about 45 percent drop in the export of leather garments since July 2006 as compared to previous year and the crisis in the leather garments industry. Zamin assured departmental support to PLGMEA members.
Chairman EOBI elaborated that EOBI is a department for workers' welfare and business oriented therefore, the exporters must provide the data of their employees for registration with EOBI.
Advisor PLGMEA Fawad proposed formation of dispute resolution committee comprising of departmental as well as association's representatives to resolve all outstanding dispute of leather garment exporters.
