Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani on Thursday said the government would bring to task those perpetrators involved in the unfortunate Dargai incident.
He said security agencies were conducting inquiry into the incident and would not rest until those who committed this awful act were brought to justice.
Such heinous acts would not help the cause of terrorists in any manner, he told journalists after a seminar "Fikar Iqbal Ki Roshni Mein" arranged here by Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) in collaboration with Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) to mark the birth anniversary of Poet of the East.
Durrani said all political forces should rise above the political divide to condemn this heinous act as it was their moral and national responsibility to help the government in curbing terrorism.
The minister said it was a hour of grief and sorrow for everyone as innocent recruits undergoing training at Punjab Regimental Training Center in Dargai were in their teens.
He said protection of people's lives was the responsibility of government and it would take all possible measures to protect them.
Replying to a question, he said NWFP government also condemned the Dargai incident and was investigating the matter from every angle.
Earlier, addressing a seminar, Durrani stressed the need to follow the thinking and teachings of Allama Iqbal, who rendered unique services for the supreme cause of the people of the sub-continent.
The minister said Iqbal's inspired comprehension of Islam and his emphasis on its role in awakening the nation was a source of inspiration for the Muslims of sub-continent.
He inspired them to gain independence and his writings created an intellectual environment in which the concept of a separate homeland for Muslims grew and resulted in fruition.
He said it was his sincere efforts that they gathered under the banner of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who ultimately created a separate homeland.
Eulogising Iqbal's work, he hoped the new generation would follow him in letter and spirit, by adopting a constructive approach in their lives, acquiring knowledge, as well as excellence in science and technology.
The minister said the love for humanity had been the basis of Iqbal's poetry and we should seek direction from his message and follow it to achieve goals for which the country was created.
