The 23rd death anniversary of Al-Haj Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, a former Senator from Sindh and a well-known industrialist and founder of Ashraf Group of Industries, was observed with solemnity.
Late Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf was father of Chaudhry Muhammad Zaka Ashraf, Chairman of Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA), Punjab Zone. A large number of people from Punjab and Sindh, including politicians, military officials and media men attended the death anniversary and paid tributes to the late Ashraf for his struggle to introduce revolutionary measures in the field of agriculture. Special prayers were also offered for eternal peace and rest of the departed soul.
Belonging to a Gujjar family of Challianwala, District Mandi Bahauddin, the late Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf not only actively participated in business and social activities in Sindh, but also worked as an activist of the Independence Movement. During his life, he headed many social institutions and remained lifetime chairman of various organisations of Punjab Abadagars in Sindh.-PR
