Balochistan Minister for Transport Mir Habib-ur-Rehman Mohammad Hasni has assured the transporters that the decision of the City Nazim Karachi to ban the entrance of Balochistan coaches to Karachi would be taken up with the Sindh Government.
Talking to a delegation of transporters here on Saturday, he said they are considering the legal and constitutional aspect of the decision of City Nazim Karachi and added that they would also talk to the Nazim in this regard.
"The decision will create serious problems for the coaches plying on Quetta-Karachi route besides affecting thousands of people who are dependent on transport sector for their livelihood. City Nazim Karachi should have taken Balochistan government and transporters into confidence before taking the decision", he observed.
He termed it as discrimination with Balochistan transporters that the City Nazim Karachi has only banned the Balochistan coaches to enter Karachi while the coaches of other provinces are allowed to enter the city. "There should be one policy for coaches of all the provinces," he urged.
There are several places in Karachi where the Balochistan coaches could be parked, he said, and added it is obviously unfair and unjust to allocate a terminal for the Balochistan coaches outside the Karachi city which has the capacity of accommodating only 32 buses compared to over 600 coaches plying on Quetta-Karachi route.
The minister, however, assured the transporters of complete support of the government regarding resolution of their problems.
