The Peshawar Security Council, an organisation, has representation of traders, labour unions, political workers and social organisations of the city here on Wednesday vowed to resist the establishment of proposed toll plaza on entry points to the provincial metropolis by the City District Government Peshawar, saying the decision is unlawful.
The Council has also decided to mould public opinion against the decision followed by a full-pledged movement against it, which would hold rallies and demonstration.
The final line of action would be taken in a grand meeting of the leaders of all political parties, traders, elders, and public representatives scheduled for November 18 at Habibi City Restaurant, Khyber Bazaar here.
This was announced during a press conference here at the Peshawar Press Club, presided over by Peshawar Security Council Chairman Habibullah Zahid, who was flanked by Haji Mamoor Khan, Amjad Ali Qadri, Qari Masahib Gul, Shahid Khan, and Khalid Ayub.
Rejecting the performance of District Nazim Haji Ghulam Ali, the Council leaders said that no developmental scheme had been completed in the city and the construction work was going at snail's pace. The much triumphant development projects of the city district government are Sher Shah Soori Bridge, Kabul River Canal, expansion of City Circular Road, Burn Hospital Hashtnagri, Benazir Hospital and provision of clean drinking water, they added.
"The PCSIR Laboratory, Peshawar, has termed the water of all 92 union councils of district injurious, not drinkable and resulting in the increase of Hepatitis and other stomach diseases among the people," said Zahid.
