Pakistan Railways is the sole organisation in communication sector, which not only facilitates shipment of goods from one place to another, but also provide travelling facilities to a large number of passengers.
This was stated by acting chairman Pakistan Railways Bashir Ahmed Dahir in his inaugural address to the participants of a seminar titled "Chain Supply Management System and Railways Role". The event was jointly organised by Pakistan Railways and Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Pakistan.
Speaking on the role of Pakistan Railways, he said the development this institution has made in recent years is really commendable. He said various uplift projects had been completed while completion of many was underway.
As many as 200 delegates participated in the seminar which was comprised of three sessions. Speaking at the second session, GM Operations Salim-ur-Rehman Akhund said that credit of the recent development and progress of Pakistan Railways goes to the present government, which ensured proper funding for completion of various projects. He also lauded the role of sitting Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, who, as he said, played pro-active role in improving the fast passenger trains and freight train service.
