Foreign delegates would start arriving in Islamabad on November 20 for attending the Third Technical Conference of the Association of Tax Authorities of Islamic Countries (ATAIC). The four-day conference of top tax officials of the Muslim World will be inaugurated here on November 22.
In this regard, the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) is finalising all arrangements to make the conference a success. Secretary General, Revenue Division and CBR Chairman Abdullah Yusuf said here on Saturday that important tax-related issues concerning Islamic states would come under discussion during the conference. He said he was confident that the ATAIC Technical Conference would go a long way in further promoting tax co-operation among the Muslim countries.
Malaysian and Iranian delegations will be the first to reach Islamabad on Monday morning. They will be followed by tax teams from Kuwait and other countries. Officers of CBR will welcome the foreign dignitaries at Islamabad Airport.
Presently, 20 Islamic countries are members of ATAIC. They are Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Comoros, Egypt, Guyana, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Pakistan, Qatar, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Tajikistan and Yemen.
ATAIC is considered as the most active organisation of tax administration of the Islamic world. Beside member states, non-member ATAIC countries have also been invited to attend the conference.
