In order to overcome water shortage problem in Fukuoka metropolitan area in Japan, large scale sea water desalination plant was constructed at the cost of US $400 million.
Akira Yamauchi of the Kyushu University of the Japan said this while delivering a lecture in the chemistry department of the government college (GC) University, Lahore.
Professor Yamauchi while discussing the construction of membrane and hollow fiber membrane module, said that sea water intake area of Fukuoka is 20,000 m2. He also demonstrated the flow sheet of Fukuoka seawater desalination plant and described the cross section of seawater intake.
Chairperson Chemistry Department of GCU Professor Muhammad Akram Kashmiri said on the occasion that Japan is a wonderful country surrounded by sea water and due to the quality research work undergoing in Japan the Japanese have made tremendous progress in every filed of life.
