Federal Minister for Women Welfare and Youth Affairs Sumera Malik has said that Women Protection Bill (WPB) passed by the National Assembly was in line with Quran and Sunnah.
November 15 was a historic day in the history of the country as the bill had been unanimously approved with none of the parliamentary parties opposing it, she said while addressing a seminar regarding WPB here in Federal Government College F-7/2 on Saturday. Chairman Federal Directorate of Colleges Maqsood-ul-Hassan and State Education Minister Anisa Zaib Tahirkheli also addressed on the occasion.
No one can even think about the legislation against Quran and Sunnah adding that we have to do more for the women, Federal Minister for Women Welfare and Youth Affairs added.
She further said that the women from across the country have welcomed this bill, as it will protect them against the injustices adding that we have made some change in Hudood ordinance, which was also prepared by human being. The minister said the government will continue to work for the protection of women rights and help them secure their due status in the society in accordance with Quran and Sunnah.
She went on to say that the National Assembly's approval of Women Rights Protection Bill 2006 is the major step towards the Pakistan, vision by National Poet and Philosopher Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Federal Minister Sumera Malik said that women will get more rights and their due status in the society with approval of WPB. She noted that round about 27 years has been spent to change Hudood Ordinance, as previous governments did nothing for the protection of women.
