Bilawal, Zardari to contest by-poll on common electoral symbol
KARACHI: Denying a news item published in a section of media, Pakistan People's Party and Pakistan People's Party-Parliamentarian on Thursday decided that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and PPPP President Asif Ali Zardari will contest by-elections on National Assembly seats on common electoral symbol of Teer (Arrow).
A press release issued by PPPs media cell said that an application for allotment of common electoral symbol shall be made to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in terms of Political Parties Order 2002.
Decision to contest by-election was taken at the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Party, the Press release added.
The two leaders had announced last week that they will be contesting National Assembly elections to be a part of the incumbent parliament when the PPP co-chairman made his first major appearance after returning from a year and a half self-imposed exile on the ninth death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto.
Speaking at a charged gathering of PPP workers and supporters in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Zardari said, "Bilawal and I are going to contest elections and enter the same parliament. I will contest in place of my sister, Faryal Talpur and Bilawal will stand from Larkana on Ayaz Soomro's seat."
