The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is planning to observe December 9, 2006 as International Anti-Corruption Day to build up awareness and inculcate habit of prevention of corruption in the government functionaries, public and young generation.
In order to properly commemorate the Day and to assist the NAB in this task, the NWFP government has decided to observe 'Anti Corruption Week' from December 4 to 9, 2006. For this purpose, the Chief Secretary has directed all concerned to arrange their activities to show government resolve to eradicate corruption from the society in general and government functionaries in particular.
In this connection, seminars will be arranged at Peshawar, D I Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Mardan, Swat and Abbottabad. These seminars will be attended at Peshawar by all BS-18 and above officers stationed here, and at other places by the BS-17 and above officers, both civil and police, of the districts. National and provincial elected public representatives of the districts concerned will also attend the seminars.
Moreover, 'walks' will be arranged at Peshawar, D I Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Mardan, Swat and Abbottabad to be participated by elected public representatives, government employees, businessmen, bar council members, students and people from all walks of life.
Educational institutions, including universities, colleges and high schools, will hold talk-shows and debates to highlight the issue of corruption and create awareness against it in the younger generation. Similarly, motions will be moved in Districts Councils to express commitment to fight the menace of corruption.
