Provincial Minister for Local Government, Katchi Abadis and Special Development Mohammad Hussain has asked Sindh Local Government Commission (SLGC) to workout a comprehensive policy for conducting investigation against TMAs and district governments throughout the province to monitor the performance of local bodies' staff.
Presiding over the 34th meeting of SLGC at his office here on Friday, he asked the commission to evolve a prescribed formula in this regard. Mohammad Hussain, who is also the chairman of SLGC, said that the Commission would be made more affective so as to effectively monitor and improve working of various district governments and town municipal administrators.
The meeting decided to acquire report from TMO regarding construction of reservoir in Gadap Town. It was also decided to determine whether the TMA concerned had followed four conditions set by commission in its earlier meeting in this regard.
The minister maintained that the basic purpose of devolution and local bodies set up was to provide masses with all the amenities at their doorstep. SLGC should ensure that this aim is achieved through constant monitoring and evaluation of the local government institutions, he added.
Additional Chief Secretary Local Government Mirza Karim Baig, MPAs Hameed Zafar and Munawar Ali Abbassi and IM & EC Director General were also present on the occasion.
