Nazim city district Peshawar, Haji Ghulam Ali on Monday said that a Disney Land park of international standard covering 800 kanal land would be built near Nagoman Canal, a suburb of Peshawar, for providing better recreation facilities to the dwellers of the city.
Speaking at the showcase ceremony of Project Citizen Pakistan held at a local hotel, he appreciated the efforts of the students for highlighting civic problems and suggesting their solution.
He said that such activities should be made part of education in institutions. During the ceremony students of five selected schools presented their project portfolios, highlighting their problems and solution through charts.
The projected was implemented by Centre for Civic Education Pakistan in 58 selected public and private schools of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Peshawar, involving about 8,000 students.
About 1,100 students from 13 public and private schools of Peshawar have completed 22 amazing projects.
The young students had worked co-operatively to identify a public policy problem in their community, researched the problem, evaluated possible solutions, and developed their own solution in the form of a public policy along with creating an action plan to enlist authorities who can adopt their proposed policy.
Executive director of Centre for Civic Education Zafarullah Khan, EDO Said Rehman and a large number of teachers, and students of five selected schools were also present on this occasion.
