The retired civil service officers who have been re-employed as Section Officers on contract in different ministries and divisions would also get 15 percent Dearness Allowance (DA). Business Recorder learnt on Wednesday that these contract employees were earlier not entitled to the 15 percent dearness allowances as announced in the budget 2006-07.
However, the Finance Ministry has recently approved the case and issued a notification stating that the 15 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) would also be admissible to those retired officers who have been re-employed as Section Officers on contract at a pay package of Rs17,000 per month, the sources said.
They further stated that the matter has been examined in the Finance Division and it has been concluded that the re-employment against the post of Section Officers is on standard terms and conditions pertaining to contract employees.
But the pay package is an aggregate of the pay and allowances of the BPS-17 which provided a single scale to the different categories of the officers either they retired as Deputy Secretary BPS-19 or Section Officer BPS- 17/18, it added.
This 15 percent allowance would be admissible on the basic pay of the Section Officers that is Rs 12,547 per month and it would be applicable from July 2006.
