Azerbaijan-Pakistan Parliamentary Working Group Chairman Eldar Ibrahimov has stressed the need for enhancing cooperation in oil and gas sector, and pointed out that both the countries could benefit from each other's experience in this vital field of economy.
Ibrahimov, who is leading a seven-member Azerbaijan parliamentary delegation, called on Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Amanullah Khan Jadoon and discussed matters of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation.
Welcoming the delegation, the minister said that Pakistan greatly valued its relations with the Central Asian Muslim states and desired to promote the level of bilateral cooperation for the benefit of entire region.
He said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan were endowed with vast hydrocarbon deposits and could learn a lot from each other's experience in oil, gas and mineral sectors.
Jadoon recalled his visit to Baku last year as the head of Pakistani delegation to JMC meeting and fruitful discussions, which led to open new avenues of interaction between the two countries. Additional Secretary Petroleum Shaukat Hayat Durrani gave a detailed briefing on the development of oil, gas and mineral sectors in last seven years.
He said the government had deregulated and liberalised the petroleum sector and introduced investor-friendly policies, which resulted in attracting 3.5 billion dollars investment during the last few years. He also highlighted the attractive package of incentives to investors in setting up oil refineries, LNG, LPG projects and exploration activities.
The team leader stressed the need for enhancing cooperation in oil and gas sector and said they could further enhance cooperation in this vital field of economy for their mutual advantage. The director generals of oil, gas petroleum concessions and member of Azeri Parliamentary delegation were also present during the meeting.
