The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) busted gang of car lifters comprising members from Balochistan and Sindh and arrested its four members from a workshop while they were busy in changing the engine and chassis numbers of stolen vehicles.
Earlier the SSP ACLC Muzaffar Shaikh had received a tip-off that the gang had hired two workshops in Metroville area of SITE Police station where engine and chassis numbers of stolen vehicles used to be changed and later these were sold in Turbat and Balochistan. Addressing a press conference SEP ACLC, Muzaffar Shaikh said that SHO ACLC Police Station Ghazanfar Kazmi was assigned the task of the arrest of accused persons.
The SHO detected two workshops running in Sectors 4 and 5 of Metroville and in a successful raid arrested accused Abdul Shakoor S/o Shadim Khan, Zafar Ali s/o Jan Farosh, Abdullah s/o Bakht Rom and Ghulam Sadiq s/o Hussain Ali while they were busy in changing the engine and chassis numbers of stolen vehicles. The ACLC team also recovered Suzuki Mehran AGV 563, Suzuki Khyber AB-1435, Charade K-2664 and Mazda Van U-4509 whose engine and chassis number had been grinned.
Besides, one TT pistol, 12 registration plates, Rs 0.510 million in cash, stolen fridge, 12 CNS kits and cylinders, fake NoC and registration books etc. SEP said that during interrogation the accused allegedly revealed that they used to get vehicles lifted or snatched through one Abdul Shakoor and his allegedly notorious car lifter brother Chaudhry Abdul Shafoor, Munir Niazi, Noor Mohammed, Mohammed Ashraf, Faisal, Bashir and Muzaffar while Zafar and Abdullah used to carry out tampering work.
