The lineup of vessels waiting to load sugar in Brazilian ports rose to 71 from 57 two weeks ago, shipping agent Williams said. In a weekly report, Williams said 28 vessels were lined up in the southern port of Santos, up from 25 two weeks ago. There were 15 vessels at Paranagua, against 12 in mid-November.
The line-up of ships waiting to take on sugar in the north-eastern ports has been growing since the start of the region's cane harvest.
There were 11 vessels at Maceio, up from nine two weeks ago, and seven at Recife, up from five. The center-south, which accounts for 86 percent of national output, will finish harvesting the record crop in December. Santos port accounted for 39 percent of the sugar tonnage being loaded in Brazilian ports.
