The rainy spell and snowfall started in Northern Areas, Galliyat and Azad Kashmir, unleashing severe cold and frosty weather in the region. The rain and snowfall have also caused closure of several roads for traffic in the area.
Sporadic rainfall in Abbottabad and adjoining areas continued from late night. In Galliayat 1.5 to two feet and in Kaghan Valley three to four feet snowfall has been recorded.
Abbottabad to Murree road was closed at Kalabagh point, while Kaghan-Naran road was also closed for traffic after heavy snowfall in the region, private TV channel reported. Gilgit, Hunza and Naltar valleys also received first snowfall of the season. Met office has predicted across the country rain, snowfall for further four days.
