Businessmen Panel Chairman Tariq Saeed has agreed in principle to nominate Tanveer Ahmed Shaikh for the top slot and Muhammad Idrees (Faisalabad) for vice presidentship of Federation Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
However, its formal announcement would be made in Lahore and hoped that Businessmen panel would sweep the poll with overwhelming majority. Addressing the representatives of trade associations and recognised chambers, members of executive committee in Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) on Saturday.
All the participants reposed their confidence in the leadership of Tariq Saeed and endorsed the decision of nomination of Mian Tanveer Ahmed Shaikh for presidentship of FPCCI. He said that it is for the first time in the history that such a number of representatives attended a meeting. He also expressed hope that businessmen panel would be victorious in the 7 December's A class and December 9's "B" class members election with considerable margin.
Tariq Saeed said that Malik Iftikhar Ahmed had assured full cooperation and wholehearted support in the forthcoming FPCCI elections, which had broken the back of the opponents. He said, "We had got success in Azad Kashmir, NWFP, Balochistan and other areas and he said that our candidates would secure more than 60 percent.
Earlier, Khawaja Muhammad Yousaf Co-ordinator of Alliance of South Punjab recognised Chambers and Trade Associations said that this is a backward zone while it produces 80 percent of total cotton production, it is at fourth stage in payment of taxes and it contributes Rs 36 billion in the tax revenue and it is higher populated than Sindh and it had more National Assembly seats than Sindh.
The meeting was attended by Tariq Saeed, Mian Maqbool Ahmed Shaikh, Khawaja Muhammad Masud, Shaikh Sarfraz Ahmed, Malik Mehmood Ahmed Awan, Mir Tahir Zaidi, Muhammad Khan Saddozai, Suhail Mehmood Haral, Shaikh Muhammad Akbar, Anis Ahmed Shaikh, Shaikh Abrar Ahmed, Syed Usman Ali, Bilal Mulla, Chaudhry Safdar Rashid, Sagheer Ahmed, Anwar Salim Keen, Shehzad Anwar, Khawaj Muhammad Iqbal, Khawaja Muhammad Younas, Khawaja Jalal-uddin Roomi, Shaikh Saeed Ahmed, Muhammad Aslam Javed, Malik Israr Ahmed Awan, Shamshad Jafari, Abdul Qayyum, Tanveer-A- Shaikh, Iqbal Hassan, Hameed Akhtar Chadd, Khalid Shaikh, Khawaja Mehboob-ur-Rehman, Salman Wazir, Ansar Khan, Khawaja Muhammad Fazil, Ahsan Tanveer, Ahsan Rasheed, Muhammad Akramn, Muhammad Idrees, Khawaja Muhammad Ali, Aman-ullah, Shaikh Muhammad Tahir, Shaikh Farooq Ahmed, Abdul Qadar, Riaz Arshad, Mian Tauqeer Ahmed Shaikh, Muhammad Younas, Tariq Ismail, Zulfikar Ali Nasuha, Waheed Khaliq Ramay, Malik Iftikhar Ahmed, Rauf Cheema, Shehzad Ali Khan, Mirza Ali Ahmed, Zahoor-uddin Qureshi and Zafar Iqbal Siddiqui.
