Punjab Minister for Communication and Works Chaudhry Zaheer ud Din Khan has said the government is utilising all available resources for the provision of modern means of communication to the people in the province.
He stated this while presiding over a high-level meeting, here on Monday. Secretary C&W Ahmed Yar Khan, Additional Secretary (Technical) Masood Rasool, Chief Engineer Highway Muhammad Iqbal Khokhar and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
The minister directed the officers of his department to ensure timely completion of all on-going schemes so that the fruits of development could reach the masses.
The meeting was informed that work on eight development schemes under Annual Development Programme (ADP) in district of Sialkot for construction of bridges and widening of existing roads is underway. Total cost of these schemes is Rs 2352.703 million and seven schemes out of eight would be completed in this fiscal year.
The meeting was also apprised that the construction of carpeted road from Sambrial Dry Port to Dhanaiwala is nearing completion on which Rs 172.800 million have been spent.
Similarly, a bridge over River Tavi at Saidpur is being constructed with the cost of Rs 186.699 million. A sum of Rs 68.057 million has been allocated for the project in current fiscal year while Rs 118.642 million have already been spent.
The minister was further informed that dual carriage-way from Sablime Chowk Sialkot to Wazirabad is being constructed at a cost of Rs 836.082 million.
During the current fiscal year Rs 346.450 million have been earmarked for this mega project which would be completed this year. Likewise, 68 kilometres long Sialkot - Aimanabad road would be widened at a cost of Rs 662.219 million.
