Provincial Minister for Education Mian Imran Masood has said government would hold inquiry into delay in construction of Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (RBISE) complex.
"Delay in construction of board building is sheer negligence as it has escalated the cost of construction," he said while talking to reporters during his visit to Fatima Jinnah Women University on Wednesday.
The minister said that there was no reason of delay as funds are available for the complex. The concerned authorities have been asked to make sure immediate initiation of civil work after Nespak hand over the site plan and design of the complex, he said. To a question about removal of ban on transfers of teachers, the minister said that it would be lifted soon, may be in the coming summer vacations.
The minister cited lack of finances as the prime reason for not giving teaching allowance to teachers, saying that whenever funds would be available government would grant the allowance.
The minister said the government has planned to empower heads of colleges for hiring teachers on vacant posts to overcome understaffing in their institutions. Under this plan, principals would be permitted to enlist teachers and fix their salaries. The provincial government will contribute half of the salary, while the remaining will be paid by the college itself, he added.
To a question about the extension in contracts of the teachers, the minister said that government was assessing the performance of these teachers on the basis of which their contracts would be renewed.
Earlier, addressing the students, and faculty of the FJWU, the minister, said that government wanted to improve quality of various educational institutions and boards across the province.
