The National Institute of Competitiveness organised a roundtable conference on "Towards a national corporate social responsibility (CSR) framework" in collaboration with German Agency of Technical Cooperation (GTZ) at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) to create awareness about the corporate social responsibility among the business community.
Speaking on the occasion Asif Zaman, member Central Business Council London, said that in future only those companies would maintain confidence of their customers, who would use influence in improving the social life of the community.
Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal said that several industrial units of this export-oriented city were complying with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which was integral part of WTO agreements.
He told the house that Sialkot Chamber had been proactive to initiate social welfare and city development projects much more than their responsibility in this regard. He reminded that the Child Labour Elimination Project in Soccer Ball industry was glaring example of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to stop children from stitching and placing them to schools for weeding out every chance of child labour.
