A committee was formed by the Government of Pakistan over one year ago in which a lot of amendments were being proposed for Companies Law. The committee was headed by Justice Ajmal Mian Saheb, who with other Members toured Karachi/Lahore/Islamabad etc and discussed with various sections of people, including chartered accountants/auditors/legal advisers etc.
We feel it has taken a long time over several proposals, including the problems of minority shareholders, holding share of 10 percent in private limited companies.
We would like to know the present position when such amendments are likely to be incorporated in the Companies Law. The report of the Commission appointed by the Government released its report many months ago.
