Please refer to the letter of Shakir Lakhani published in your newspaper on January 19, 2007 regarding the vanishing containers, which is absolute correct.
National Accountability Bureau has launched an investigation into the disappearance of more than 2,000 containers from various dry ports of the country, supposedly to evade taxes and duties. It is not surprising that 2000 containers are missing. Lots of containers are disappearing in Lahore dry port every day.
CBR is fully aware, but is helpless as some officials reportedly have their share in this system. Government should take stern action against corrupt officials.
