Australia captain Ricky Ponting has urged his team mates to raise their game for Friday's one-day international against England in Adelaide. Australia are undefeated after four matches in the tri-series, but Ponting says there is still plenty of room for improvement in the side.
The world champions struggled in their last two matches, beating England by four wickets in Brisbane then New Zealand by two wickets in Sydney. "I think the important thing for us is not to be complacent, not to get carried away with how well we might be going," Ponting told a news conference in Adelaide on Thursday.
"Although we've been winning I think we've got a lot of areas for improvement."
Ponting said his main area of concern was with the top-order batting, of which he is a part.
Australia's bowlers dismissed their opponents cheaply in the last two games but needed a late flurry from the middle order to get them home after the top order collapsed. "We've got a bit of work to do, to tell you the truth," Ponting said. "The last couple of games we've played we haven't been chasing big totals and we've managed just to scrape across the line both times."
