Officiating City Nazim Nasreen Jalil has asked the nazimeen of union councils to attend majalis and processions taking place in their respective jurisdictions to ensure peace and harmony among different sects of Muslims living in their areas.
She was addressing a meeting of nazimeens and naib nazimeen in her office on Friday in respect of arrangements to peacefully manage all majalis and procession during the last three days of Ashoor.
She said that it was incumbent upon the peoples' representatives to look after their electorates, maintain peace, promote brotherhood and facilitate in holding majalis and mourning processions. She called upon the nazimeen to inculcate in people sense of tolerance among each other. Nazimeen told the meeting that carpeting of roads leading to Imambarghas had been completed and the patchwork in progress would complete before Yom-e-Ashoor.
They said that facilities were being created for the comfort of mourners, streetlights had been re-fixed, encroachments had been removed, all provocative graffiti had been cleaned, traffic arrangements had been finalised, and alternate routes to divert vehicular traffic had been made. The meeting was told that fire brigade had been put on alert and hospitals had been asked to remain prepared to meet emergencies.
Special measures were taken in Malir Town where Jafar-e-Tayyar Society, Husaini Sifaratkhana, Al-abbas Imambargah, Jinnah Square Imambargah and other such places are located to ensure peaceful holding of majalis and processions.
He stressed the nazmeen and Ulema to maintain peace during the coming three days.
