The Punjab government will introduce new warden system from September this year to streamline traffic system to avoid traffic violations and accidents. Traffic police in Rawalpindi would be provided 1170 well-trained staff, highs-peed cars, eight lifters, two heavy trucks and more than 350 motorcycles under new system.
SSP Traffic Rawalpindi range Sabir Ahmed talking to Business Recorder said more than 40 women had been inducted in traffic police while 100 inspectors would be provided by provincial government to supervise 1070 wardens.
He said the technical training of new traffic wardens would start from March under which they would be able to control the situation and within six months they assume the charge. He said that separate wardens would be appointed for VVIP routes and traffic police would perform duty in two shifts.
SSP traffic said that as a test case warden system was introduced in Lahore, which gave positive results so that it was being introduced in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Multan.
He said that all traffic officials of present system would be transferred to Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal, while drivers, gunmen, guards and office staff would work as usual.
He said that 100 inspectors would supervise 1070 wardens in Rawalpindi, while SSP of the range would be named as Chief Traffic Officer and SP rank officers would head city circle and all districts of the range.
He said that Rawalpindi was divided into four circles under new system and DSP rank official would head it. There would be nine sectors in every circle and two inspectors would perform duty in one circle in two shifts.
