The Punjab minister for social welfare Zil-e-Huma Usman paid a surprise visit of seven institutions at Social Welfare Complex Township and inspected the attendance, cleanliness and standard of work.
The minister found absent four officers including the Principal and eleven officials, ordered their suspension and also called their explanations. She started his visit around 10am on Friday and reached Social Welfare Complex without any prior intimation.
She checked the record herself. After Institute she visited "Nashaman" where so far eight mentally retarded women were registered and only was being served. The minister visited each room where all the building was empty and the in charge deputy director Rozeena Javed was also away from her office.
Then, the minister inspected Dar ul Flah and checked the register where 9 women and 24 children were registered. She expressed dissatisfaction over the cleanliness and directed to improve the situation.
She also visited the institution of mentally disabled children "Chaman" and expressed here displeasure over the arrangements and ordered for explanation of officials namely Sughraan Bibi and Sohail who were found negligent of duties. Afterward, the minister went to Dar ul Sakoon and enquired about the health of mentally ill elders.
She directed to depute one doctor and psychiatrist and bring more patients from Mental Hospital to here for rehabilitation. She also visited "Gahawara" where only one child was entertained in the new building.
The minister ordered to prepare working paper in one week and make this institution functional. She herself visited kitchen, laundry and other portions in all these premises and said that she would continue such surprise visits for the sake of betterment.
