Like other parts of the globe, World Cancer day would be observed in Pakistan on February 4 to create awareness among the masses and focus attention towards "Cancer" as global health problem highlighting preventive measures to control the disease.
World Cancer Day is an annual event organised by the International Union against Cancer (UICC). This year, UICC will use World Cancer Day to launch the World Cancer Campaign 2007-08, entitled today's children, tomorrow's world. The focus of the campaign is cancer prevention.
Cancer is a leading cause of death around the world. WHO estimates that 7.6 million people died of cancer in 2005. It estimated that 40 percent of all cancer is preventable.
