Punjab Minister for Power Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani has said that the government had released the second instalment of Rs 100 million to Wapda for the installation of TOD metres on tubewells for the supply of cheap electricity to the farmers.
He expressed these views while talking to a 7-member delegation of local farmers in his office, here on Friday. Chaudhry Armaghan Subhani said that with the installation of these TOD meters where the farmers would avail the facility of low cost of production, they would also be able to achieve the Green Punjab target. He urged the farmers to be benefited from this facility on urgent basis and shift their old metres into new one.
He said that in first half of the project 15,000 old meters had been changed so far whereas, and in second half 20,000 meters would be installed. The minister said that with the help of this facility the farmers would be able to save Rs 20,000 to Rs 90,000 annually. He said that the reduced tariff rate would be applicable on power utilisation from 10 pm to 6 am.
He averred that provincial government was changing these meters without any additional charges and no official was allowed to ask for any charges in this regard. He said that uplift of agri-sector was the top priority of the present government and it would go on taking further initiatives in this regard.
