Industries department Punjab has launched the census of industrial units in the province for the year 2005-2006. According to official sources, report forms in triplicate have been dispatched to all industrial undertakings engaged in the manufacturing process in Punjab.
The census is being undertaken under Industrial Statistic Act 1942 (Amended 2000). All industries engaged in assembling, repairing and servicing have been directed to submit their returns positively by February 10 to avoid punitive action.
Submission of required information is mandatory under section eight of Industrial Statistic Act 1942 (Amended 2000). In case of violation, fine up to Rs 20,000 could be imposed. "Late submission of forms (after 60 days) is also punishable with fine at the rate of Rs 800 per day", sources concluded.
