Punjab Minister for Forests Dr Ashfaq-ur-Rehman has said that sources of energy are vital for the progress of the country and in order to bridge the gap between demand and supply of energy and fire wood, maximum number of trees should be planted.
He was presiding over a departmental meeting. He said that proper care is must for the existing plants besides new forestation. He said that a comprehensive strategy has been evolved to plant saplings in all housing schemes of the city and five thousand saplings are being planted in each scheme. He said that people can contact sale points of Forest Dept to obtain saplings and stumps at cheaper rates.
