Central leader of PPP and MNA Aitzaz Ahsan has said that the government did not take parliament seriously and it is not now a superior institution.
In an interview with a private TV channel he said the parliament has become a rubber stamp as it adopts whatever decision has been taken and the government doesn't feel need of discussion. The parliament, he said, cannot choose even its leader of the house by its own will.
He elaborated that Shaukat Aziz was nominated as Prime Minister at the time when he was not member of the National Assembly. The decision was not made by the parliament as if it had been done, then the parliament might have chosen any one from the parliament, he added.
The Pakistan People's Party leader said that budget goes to the committees for approval at first in United Kingdom, India and other countries and then in brought in the parliament for discussion but it doesn't happen this way in Pakistan, he added.
To a question he said Pakistan People's Party would not withdraw from any forum, adding, "We are raising issues in this helpless parliament to aware the people about their rights." There is a possibility opposition will resign if President will try to get vote for his next term. PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan said the parliament must have power and authority as non representative parliament cannot become active.
