Engineering Development Board (EDB) has undertaken gigantic tasks of introduction of transparent and competitive Tariff Based System (TBS) to replace the non-TRIMS complaint deletion programmes and framing of a detailed Auto Industry Development Programme (AIDP) for sustainable development of Auto industry.
AIDP will provide a complete auto industry investment framework and updating of Custom General Order (CGO) by removing defects, discrepancies and anomalies.
This was stated in performance review report 2005-06 of Engineering Development Board (EDB) issued here on Wednesday.
The first review report, after restructuring of the Board in December 2004, apprised about the major activities initiated by EDB ranging from Sectoral Policy Formulation to Tariff recommendations. Apart from these, the report focused on identification of star performers in engineering sector by profiling benchmarking for need assessment of various sectors and their subsequent development for preparing them to become the champion industries for going global.
