General trend in the currency market was mixed on Saturday as the rupee moved both ways against both dollar and euro, dealers said. The rupee mostly held on to its overnight levels against dollar in the interbank market, showing no change for buying and selling at 60.70 and 60.72, respectively.
Smooth supply of dollars aided the rupee and gave the idea that it would maintain its steadier trend in the coming days, dealers said. In the world markets, the yen recovered most of the gains against major currencies.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee showed divergent trend against dollar in open market losing two paisa for buying at 60.67 and gaining three paisa for selling at 60.72, dealers said. The euro managed to get rid of overnight weakness versus rupee, recovering 16 paisa for buying and selling at Rs 79.68 and Rs 79.73, they said.
