A two-day seminar on "Poverty alleviation through employment generation" concluded here at Pakistan Manpower Institute (PMI) on Wednesday. The main objective was to acquaint the participants with the concept of poverty, issues and measures required to alleviate poverty.
To correlation between human resource development and poverty to devise policies to improve productivity and skill. About 20 officers from Federal and Provincial Government Organisations and Academic Institutions participated in the seminar. Earlier, eminent speakers from Academic Institutions delivered lectures to the participants. PMI was established in 1975 as an attached department of the Ministry of Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis.
As per its charter of function, the institute undertakes research and training in the area of human resource development and management with focus on labour related issues for the officers and officials from public and private sector organisations.
