The government with the co-operation of donor agencies is taking measures to provide international standard expertise to gynaecologists at home and abroad, while workshops will be arranged for specialist doctors to avail the latest research and know-how in their fields.
This was stated by Punjab Health Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal while addressing a conference by South Asian Federation for Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Safog), according to a handout issued here on Friday.
He said with greater focus on mother-and-child health care to reduce mortality rate, especially in rural populations, the government will provide greater opportunities for capacity-building to Pakistani doctors. Professor Farrukh Zaman, Safog President Dr Sudha Sharma, Dr Shahida Zaidi, Dr Rashid Lateef, Professor T.A. Chaudhry and others also addressed the conference. Later, the minister inaugurated the pharmaceutical exhibition.
