City Naib Nazim, Nasrin Jalil, has called for offering equal opportunities to working women as are available to their male counterparts in employment in different fields. She said this should also be true with respect to salaries and working women must get same wages as are paid to male employees in their respective fields.
She was addressing as chief guest at a walk taken out under the auspices of Soroptimist International in connection with the International Women Day at Sea View, Clifton.
The walk was participated, among others, by President Soroptimist International Justice Majida Rizvi (Retd), general secretary Dr Talaat Pasha, former president Laila Hashwani, treasurer Dr Tahira Naqvi besides Shahida Noor, Dr Rubi Abbasi, Anjum Bhatti, Batool Sadiq and a large number of women belonging to CAA, Health, Police, teachers, doctors, lawyers etc.
The participating women pledged that violence against women will be condemned at every level. They demanded stringent punishment to those involved in criminal assault on women and establishment of legal aid centres consisting of police, lawyers and social workers to get immediate justice to affected women.
Nasrin Jalil said the minimum wages as have been fixed for male workers, should also be applicable on female workers.
