The Sunday's rain has devastated the already poor road infrastructure in Keamari Town causing severe hardships for the public. People of the port town continued to brave the hardships on Monday as rainwater could not be flushed out from the roads streets, lanes and by-lanes.
Major roads of the town are badly affected by the Sunday rain. Roads of Bhutta village, one of the oldest and densely populated areas of the town, are almost in the ruins. According to the residents, this has exposed the inadequacy of the town administration. It has again failed to drain out the rainwater that they should have done on war footing.
Roads that are spotted with huge ditches and potholes include Tara Chand Road, Qasim Shah Road, Kamela Road, Masan Road, Ghulshan-e-Sikandarabad Road, Umer Khan Road.
Kamela and Masan Chowks are the most affected public spots where rainwater is still on roads that looklike cesspool making it difficult for the public. Road from Kamel Chowk to Poonawal apartments and onward is completely submerged and huge ditches are filled by rainwater. Some residents believe this may be death -trap for the very old and small children.
Public has demanded of the City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal to take notice of the Keamari Town administration's negligence. They have also urged him to redress still the public miseries declaring emergency in town.
It has been observed that during torrential rain town sanitation staff remained absent to sort out rain related sewerage problems, while rainwater from road has not so far been drained out.
The residents believe that town nazim Hamayoun Muhammad Khan has remained indifferent to the civic problems that the common man faces.
