Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Monday regretted the attitude of the opposition on the prevailing political situation, saying they always looked for an opportunity for their own interests. "Wherever there is a protest, the opposition has made it a habit to join it," he said talking to reporters at the 32nd-ASP passing out parade.
He said that the reference against the chief justice is a constitutional matter and the Supreme Judicial Council is the forum whose decision would be acceptable to all.
Pervaiz Elahi said that President General Pervez Musharraf has also said recently in unequivocal terms, during a public rally, that SJC's decision would be fully accepted.
He said that no one should attempt to influence the situation. He also said that attack on Geo TV was widely condemned and 15 policemen have been suspended after a preliminary investigation.
He said that an inquiry is being conducted and those involved would be treated according to law.
To a question, he said conspiracy is being hatched against the country to destabilise it and elements involved would be unveiled.
He said that capacity building of the police training academies is being upgraded so that well-trained officer can deliver according to their abilities.
